You know those people (maybe it’s you) who just have to be entertaining somebody at all times? The ones who jump from relationship to relationship, romantic or platonic, as if being alone is the worst thing in the world?
As humans, we have an instinctual need to cling to things, and if we don’t, it can feel like there’s a void within us. But take the time to really understand what makes solitude so horrific for you. Understand that being alone is what you make of it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Besides, how can you truly be yourself when you’re around different people, energies, and influences all the time? It’s easy to develop the interests of others around you, but why not use the time to cater to yourself? Try to experience real love and happiness before seeking it in others: join a class you’ve always wanted to take, travel to a place you’ve always dreamed about, get in shape, or work on your credit. ⠀⠀⠀
Evolving into your true self will give you a meaning and purpose in life. The results of self-discovery include clarity, enlightenment, optimism, and fulfillment. You will become a stronger person for the pre-existing relationships in your life, which can be an enriching and exhilarating experience for all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like Sarah Jessica Parker once said, “Being single used to mean nobody wanted you. Now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.” So embrace solitude; there are far worse things than being alone.
