The drama unfolded at the July 16th show at Gillette Stadium. Byron and the company’s head of human resources were caught on the kiss cam and sparked buzz when they immediately hid from the camera. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, seeing their reaction, joked to the crowd, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Internet speculation ran wild, eventually linking the moment to Byron, who is married. The head of human resources is also reportedly married. Two days after the clip circulated, a spokesperson confirmed he was “placed on leave,” with cofounder Pete DeJoy named interim CEO.
On Saturday, July 19th, Astronomer made Byron’s departure official. “Andy Byron has tendered his resignation,” the company shared on Twitter. “The board of directors has accepted it.”
As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.

“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” Astronomer’s statement continued. “While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not.”
An internal investigation was launched, but Astronomer stated, “Statements made about other employees being present at the concert and featured in the video were incorrect.”
The fate of the head of human resources remains unclear.
