Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry has taken a leave of absence in the wake of racial statements made about veteran forward Luol Deng.
“This afternoon, Danny Ferry requested, and I have approved, taking an indefinite leave of absence, effective immediately,” Hawks CEO Steve Koonin said in a statement Friday.
Ferry is saying that he was just repeating remarks made by other people and he has a black best friend.
Head coach Mike Budenholzer will assume oversight of the basketball operations department during Ferry’s absence.
Surprising, Adam Silver is behind Ferry, I thought the NBA non-tolerance for racism.
I hope the Atlanta Hawks fans start wearing African garb and Kente cloth this season.
