Atlanta Hawks Thabo Sefolosha was found not guilty in court this week. If you recall back in April Sefolosha was in a violent altercation with NYPD officers at 1Oak nightclub in NYC. Cops reported Sefolosha was interfering with officers investigating the stabbing of NBA player Chris Copeland.
Sefolosha was charged with obstruction, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. During some part of the arrest, he suffered a fractured right leg.
After diliberating for nearly an hour, a Manhattan jury found Sefolosha not guilty on all three counts. “They were on the side of truth and justice today. … I’m just happy all this is over now and I can put this behind me, knowing my name has been cleared,” the 31-year-old Sefolosha told reporters leaving court.
While Sefolosha’s leg has not fully healed, he is slowly getting back to running and playing some. He says he hasn’t decided on whether or not he will be suing the city, but hopes he still has a long career ahead of him.
Good luck to Thabo Sefolosha on his recovery.
