Violent crime is high in Atlanta, so much so that while authorities were investigating one shooting, another shooting victim arrived on the scene for help.
An unidentified person told 11Alive that he was flagged down in the early hours of Sunday morning by a shooting victim who asked him for a ride to the hospital.
While on their way, he saw another shooting scene on Peachtree Street and Ellis Street and left the victim with officers of that scene.
Police were responding to calls of a female shot when the good Samaritan pulled up in his Jeep with the man who had been shot.
“It’s a lot going on within this community. I feel great that I can help someone save their life,” he said. “I feel like if that’s one of my members of my family members that someone had been shot, I would like someone to help them as well.”
Around 2:45 a.m., police were dispatched to 180 Peachtree Street to reports of a person shot. They found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was alert, conscious, and breathing. Police believe the shooting resulted from a dispute with someone she knew.
It is not clear if police have arrested a suspect.
The other shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. Officers were flagged down near William H. Boarders and Tanner Street.
The man was shot near 400 Edgewood Avenue and had multiple gunshot wounds. He was the victim who asked the good Samaritan to take him to the hospital.Â
Officers rendered aid to that man, who was taken to the hospital and listed in serious condition.Â
Police are now working on learning the circumstances behind both incidents.
