Atlantic Records has officially joined forces with entertainment lawyer James McMillan and his Art@War label to help develop a diverse roster of talent for its new imprint.
Art@War, which was founded by McMillan, himself, is home to the YBN Collective, which includes YBN Nahmir, YBN Cordae, and YBN Almighty Jay. However, in the wake of the joint venture with Atlantic Records, McMillan says he’s “looking forward to signing talent from all genres — artists who can make a lasting cultural impact – and evolving into a full-service label.”
According to Billboard, McMillan also opened up about his new team and partnership in the statement, saying, Julie [Greenwald], Craig [CEO Kallman], Mike Kyser and the entire Atlantic family are a winning team that isn’t afraid to push the envelope. They’ve been supportive of me throughout my career, so it was an easy decision to partner with them.”
Meanwhile, Greenwald said, “It made perfect sense for us to partner with him and his Art@War label so we could have a more immersive relationship. We couldn’t be more excited to work with him and his team to develop this incredible roster of talent.”
