Police arrested the suspect who is accused of shooting Lil TJay during an attempted robbery.
On Friday, the New Jersey police arrested 27-year-old Mohamed Konate for allegedly shooting TJay. Konate was recently hospitalized for a gunshot wound which authorities believe was from the shooting with the rapper. Konate is currently being held on Rikers Island.
Last month, Konate and his two friends tried to rob TJay as he sat in his car near the Bronx. Konate fired shots that struck TJay in the thoracic cavity. One of TJay’s friends, along with Konate, was both wounded in the incident.
According to investigators, Konate’s associate helped him to a vehicle nearby following the shooting. The associate then drove to drop him off at Lenox Hill Hospital. The associate’s identity is unknown as investigators say they are cooperating with authorities.
TJay was airlifted to Hackensack University Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery. He is currently awake and recovering well.
As for as Konate, he was charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder. His two associates are being charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
