Ayesha Howard has broken her silence after text messages surfaced of NBA star Anthony Edwards telling her to get an abortion.
The influencer took to Instagram to blast those who agreed with Edwards, maintaining that her choice to have their daughter was not a mistake.
“You have all become so numb, ungrateful, and disrespectful of the ability to reproduce and give life that abortion has become desensitized,” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post.
While she didn’t mention Edwards by name, it’s evident she is addressing their situation. In text messages between the two that surfaced in their paternity and child support case, Edwards dismisses Howard’s pregnancy and according to her, even blocked the woman after learning she was carrying their child. Edwards also shared that he has no intention of being involved in the child’s life. Their fallout sparked a wave of discussions online, with some slamming Howard for having the baby despite Edwards not wanting it. The 36-year-old says that he should not be absolved of responsibility.
“To the men who have lacked and continue to lack male representation, influence, and accountability: being a man doesn’t start and stop with an erection. Being a father is not optional after bypassing the preventative measures available to you beforehand,” she added.
Edwards has not yet spoken out about the matter.
