R. Kelly survivor who previously defended the singer, Azriel Clary, returned to CBS Mornings to chat with Gayle King following the verdict in Kelly’s racketeering and sex trafficking trial.
“I know that he knows he’s guilty,” Clary said.
“People told him. People tried to warn him. People tried to help him,” she added. “He didn’t care … He was selfish. He was greedy. He was a pedophile … And he never, not once, wanted to get help.”
During the interview, Clary told King that people who worked for the singer would warn him about getting involved with minors.
“That’s the only options that he would give people that worked for him,” she said. “And I feel like it’s very disturbing for him to sit and think that he is still innocent when he knows of all the trauma that he’s put us through.”
In March 2019, Clary identified herself by her real name in an interview with Gayle King. At the time, she denied all allegations of any abuse. By January 2020, Clary claimed she had lied, and that she was in fact abused and brainwashed by Kelly.
During the trial, Clary testified to being in a relationship with Kelly at 17. She said he abused her sexually and physically, including forcing her to get an abortion.
Recently, R. Kelly was found guilty of all charges. The singer continues to deny any wrongdoing.
