Three people have been arrested in connection to the double homicide that took a man and a woman’s life.
Authorities have identified the woman as Deshayla Harris, 29, a former Bad Girl’s Club star. Police said Harris was a bystander at the second shooting incident that occurred in the 300 block of 19th Street and was struck by a stray bullet, Wavy reported.
Police do not believe the incident was a mass shooting. They believe it was shots fired from feuding parties near the beachfront area of town, where all the resorts lie.
The other victim is 25-year-old Donovan Lynch, who was shot and killed by a uniformed VBPD officer, according to the press release. Lynch died from his injuries at the scene, police said. Police stated that the officer involved in the man’s fatal shooting is being placed on administrative assignment during an investigation, which the release said is standard procedure.
Eight others were injured due to three separate shootings that took place Friday at the Virginia Beach Resort area. Authorities don’t believe the shootings were connected but say they happened a short time from one another.
Harris is said to have died at the scene.
Authorities say they arrested 3 individuals in connection to at least one of the shootings. Ahmon Adams, Nyquez Baker, and Devon Dorsey Jr. were arrested and charged with several different counts — including assault, use, and reckless handling of a firearm, among others. However, police say none of these guys were involved in the shooting that killed Harris.
Castmate Key Marie posted a tribute to Harris after hearing of her passing.
“No matter how much I refused to talk to you…you never took no for an answer you popped up to my show just to prove fixing our friendship meant something to you 🥲 hardest part about losing you is I never fully forgave you 😫😔 I literally let that TV s*** stand between us building a connection outside of tv 😔🥲🥲🥲 you didn’t deserve this man this shit jus don’t feel real ….I’m sick affffff 🥲🥲 rest easy Babygirl.”
U.S. Senator Tim Kaine posted on Twitter that his heart is with Virginia Beach. “I feel sick at the news of yet another senseless mass shooting — in a community already scarred by the scourge of gun violence,” he said. “We cannot stand by as more families lose loved ones. The time for Congress to act on gun violence is NOW.”
I feel sick at the news of yet another senseless mass shooting—in a community already scarred by the scourge of gun violence. My heart is with Virginia Beach today.
We cannot stand by as more families lose loved ones. The time for Congress to act on gun violence is NOW.
