Nine years ago today, rapper T.I. released his sixth studio album ‘Paper Trail’ on Grand Hustle Records and Atlantic Records.
The title of the album is befitting for what the Atlanta native was experiencing at the time. Tip began writing for the album as he awaited trial for federal weapons and possession charges. Similar to his first album, ‘I’m Serious’ (2001), Tip actually wrote his bars down on paper which he hadn’t done in almost ten years.
‘Paper Trail’ peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 568,000 copies sold, after just one week of being released. The album has sold over two million copies in the United States and was certified two-time platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

With songs like “Swagga Like Us (Remix)” and “Live Your Life”, Tip shows he’s still a lyricist to be reckoned with, whose bars will stand the test of time.
