I apologize if this makes certain people mad but it must be said. As we wind down 2015 and begin making resolutions for the new year, it’s time to remember some of the celebrities who should consider deactivating their social media accounts for a while.
Whether it was useless arguments, their inability to stop getting hacked, or just boring posts, these 5 artists (to me) should think about a small break from the digital world. Check out my suggestions and let me know yours.
Baller Alert’s Year In Review: 5 Celebs Who Should Deactivate Social Media In 2016
Iggy Azalea – Iggy has already began her hiatus and it is likely for the best. Social media hasn’t been too kind to the Aussie rapper and once she had a melt down on Papa Johns, we knew it was time she stepped back for a moment.
Funkmaster Flex – Flex is a legend. Not just in his own right, but a legend period. Social media, however, has probably put a few dings in his legacy as far as the younger generation is concerned. Though most of his mishaps don’t happen on social media, Flex uses things that happen on social media to bring attention to his show. For this reason, maybe a brief social media vacation will be helpful in lowering unnecessary antics.
Azealia Banks – Rapper Azealia Banks is known more for her antics on social media than she is for her actual music. Ask anyone, they can probably name more cyber beefs that Banks has been involved in, than actual songs she’s released this year. This is problematic for someone who is still having a hard time breaking barriers in the industry. I’d suggest Azealia use her social media to pump her upcoming album instead of punking other celebs.
Meek Mill – Meek had a pretty tragic 2015 when it comes to the internet. Some battles he won, one major battle he lost. Either way, Meek’s tweets a lot of things that may get him in a sticky situation. A break from the keyboard would do him well.
Wale – The MMG rapper tends to be a bit emotional on Twitter and it might be time to step back for a while. Many fans are patiently awaiting new music but when the back and forth arguments with followers clouds promotion, it could be problematic.
Bonus – Nicki Minaj – The last part of the year for Nicki has been a bit much on social media. From her beef with Taylor Swift over the MTV VMA’s, to her beef with Dr. Miami and the random times she posts haters on the proverbial “summer jam screen” that is her Twitter page, social media is doing a number on the Queen Barb. Though we love how she interacts with fans, maybe a few weeks over the next month or two will be therapeutic for the star. I’m sure she is stressed with all the attention and drama going on around her.
