After a full year of negativity worldwide, we all want something positive, excellent, and exciting for the new year. To do that, we need to leave things behind in 2021.

When walking into a new year, it’s essential to start with a ‘clean sweep.’ This is a great way to streamline, simplify and refocus your life. Here are five things that need to be left in 2021.

Comparison –

Comparison is ultimately the thief of joy. Research has found that comparing breeds feelings of envy, low-self confidence, and depression. When comparing leads you to devalue yourself or others, you’ve entered dangerous territory.

What people present to the outside world is usually an edited version of themselves. “The reason we struggle with insecurity is that we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone’s highlight reel,” said Pastor Steven Furtick in a recent sermon. Make 2022 the year to focus on your lane.

Toxic people and relationships –

Being alone and being lonely are not the same thing. Staying in a bad company (toxic relationships) can actually be more harmful and more challenging to bear than being yourself. Unhealthy relationships can threaten you mentally, physically, or psychologically, whether with family, friends, or significant others.

By their very own nature, toxic relationships push aside other healthy relationships. In 2022, keep those positive, uplifting people around you and remove those preventing you from personal growth.

Anxiety and fears – These two things cause a lot of uncertainty and chaos that prevent you from living a full life. When we appreciate life, we can do more with it. In 2022, surrender the feeling of worry and anxiousness. Try not to let the illusion of control paralyze you.

We’re here to live our best lives, and when we don’t deal with our fears and keep them in their proper place, then they can keep us from finding the joy in life that is the birthright of all of us.

Bad eating habits  – We all fell victim to the comfort food in our homes during quarantine, but it’s time to get back on track. Although we’re still dealing with the new norm that is COVID -19, it’s important to focus on things that help improve our minds and bodies.

The best way to take charge of your eating habits is to tune into your body, according to the Web MD weight loss. Learn to listen to your body when you are physically hungry and stop when you are full. Also, find healthy foods you like to eat and take 15-30 min out of your day to get your body moving.

Procrastination: Procrastination is extremely common, and we’ve all done it from time to time. However, starting fast and finishing slow isn’t always the best route to take for many of us. Research shows that chronic procrastinators tend to earn less money and experience higher anxiety levels. Constantly putting things off not only means you get less done; it’s also really stressful.

2022 is an excellent start to getting ahead of deadlines and working on the front end of things. Find an accountability partner and work on it day-by-day.
