The hip-hop industry gave us some good music this year. Hits came from seasoned artists like Drake and Cardi B, as well as newcomers like Glorilla.
It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t recap some of the best songs in 2022. Check out our list and leave some honorable mentions in the comments.
Hopefully, the heat keeps coming in 2023.
“F.N.F” became a female anthem in 2022. Memphis rapper Glorilla left her mark in the industry with the song that has females going wild. And she proved she wasn’t a one-hit wonder when she followed through with her hit song “Tomorrow” featuring Cardi B.
Of course, Future came through with his catchy hit “Wait For You,” which features both Drake and Tems. It‘s a song that gets everybody singing, whether they’re in the club or riding in the car. It’s a banger that can be played just about anywhere.
Female artists applied pressure this year, including Ice Spice, who came through with “Munch.” The Bronx rapper was dubbed a drill newcomer by Billboard. The song was a fav. Even Cardi B jumped on the track to drop an unofficial verse.
Lil Baby dropped his album this year, giving us a bunch of hits to choose from, including “California Breeze.” A smooth song that can you can vibe to.
“Just Wanna Rock” by Uzi Vert is not only a TikTok sensation with its over-hype dance moves, but it’s also a party anthem that more than likely is blasting through speakers at all the parties.
Muni Long came through with “Hrs & Hrs.” The track has many of us showing our sexuality and crooning along. It was def a 22’ gem.
Gunna & Future collaborated to give us “Pushin P” at the beginning of 2022. Gunna enlightened us on what “Pushin’ P” actually means. It’s a code for being a stand-up person/true player, with ho qualities like “bossing up your b-tech” and “being a real ni–a off the Internet.”
Latto gave us “Big Energy,” which sampled Mariah Carey’s 1995 hit “Fantasy.” The song gave us motivation and, of course, energy.
Chris Brown’s “Under The Influence” was a hot single off his album that climbed its way up the ladder, cracking the Hot 100’s top 15 and earning C-Breezy another platinum plaque.
Beyoncé graced us with “Cuff it.” The song became another TikTok sensation that had us letting loose and ready to “fu-k up the night.”
