The Rock’s 16-year-old daughter, Simone Garcia Johnson, will be making history at the forthcoming Golden Globes, as the first-ever Ambassador of the 75th annual show. The honor, which is formally known as Mr. or Miss Golden Globes, is usually given to a child of a celebrity. The person of choice would then be introduced at the start of the show, and spend the rest of the ceremony handing out the awards to the presenters, who will then give them over to the winners.

“As we look forward to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members decided to expand this role to embody the HFPA’s philanthropic efforts year-round,” the HFPA President said in a statement on Wednesday, confirming the official switch from “Miss or Mr. Golden Globe” to “Golden Globe Ambassador.”

“We could not think of a better representative than Simone to carry on this tradition, as her values closely reflect everything the H.F.P.A stands for,” Meher Tatna continued.

In turn, Johnson expressed her gratitude to the H.F.P.A. for choosing her to continue the tradition; attributing her characteristics that the H.F.P.A highlighted to the household she grew up in.

“I’ve been lucky enough to grow up in a household with strong role models and feel so honored to represent the H.F.P.A for its 75th University,” Johnson said. “ As the newly minted Golden Globe Ambassador, I hope to serve as a role model to young people everywhere and empower them to speak out on issues they are passionate about.”
