Formula 1 is back in Miami this weekend, and amongst the chaos and races, it’s important to find the right fuel to keep your engine going all day and night. Here’s a ballerific guide to our personal recommendations of where you should reserve a table at this year during the Miami Grand Prix.
Dirty French Steakhouse
Sexy, glamorous, and flamboyant are just a few words to describe this Major Food Group joint. Stepping inside Dirty French Steakhouse feels like walking into your boujee auntie’s house. Yes, the one who “has money.” It’s adorned with loud ’80s animal print décor and plush interiors. And although the décor may be a blast from the past, the service is A1. Attentive servers, whose fits match the restaurant, offer the ultimate fine dining experience.
Our picks for dishes: You can’t go wrong with the Maine lobster and East Coast oysters from the raw bar to start. For the main course, make sure to include the prime-aged ribeye, blackened snapper, and Brussels sprouts, with dirty rice and whipped mash on the side. If there’s room, satisfy your sweet tooth with some hot beignets.

Red Rooster Overtown
For a “home-cooked,” feel-good meal, visit Red Rooster Overtown. The American-Caribbean fused restaurant serves up some of the best comfort cuisine in the city. Helmed by notable chef Marcus Samuelsson, the swanky Florida outpost’s décor pays homage to 1930s Harlem while also fusing in the rich history of the historic Miami neighborhood it calls home.
Our picks for dishes: Start with M’s cornbread and the deviled eggs. For the main course, the Coconut Smoked Oxtail and Fried Yardbird are a must, paired with braised greens and mac & cheese on the side. For dessert, you can’t go home without at least a bite or two of the key lime pie. After dinner, head upstairs to the pool hall for a nightcap.

Shiso
This Asian smokehouse merges wood-fired BBQ cooking with Japanese techniques and Caribbean flavors. Located in Miami’s Wynwood Art District, this new spot, led by Chef Raheem Sealey, honors the aesthetic of the neighborhood with graffiti-covered concrete walls and an open, airy dining space that transports you to a kind of urban retreat. Although it’s relatively new to the Miami dining scene, we consider this gem a standout thanks to its audacious fusion of cultural cuisine.
Our picks for dishes: If you’re going with a group, start your experience with the smoked sticky ribs, smoked chicken lollipops, smoked BBQ brisket nigiri, and sausage-stuffed shishito peppers. Follow up with the half-fried, half-smoked chicken and waffles and Chilean seabass, paired with honey butter cornbread and broccolini on the side. For dessert, the Basque cheesecake is a must.

Casadonna
The perfect spot for an outdoor brunch on a breezy Miami weekend, this waterfront restaurant transports you to the Riviera. Housed in a nearly 100-year-old building completely transformed into a coastal paradise and content creator’s dream, it features bubblegum pink furniture and teal accents that feel like a subtle nod to Florida. Casadonna isn’t just another overhyped IG influencer playground. Even though you’ll catch a few photo ops happening (we’re guilty of it), the food is actually pretty good.
Our picks: Clear your Sunday morning schedule because you need to indulge in their weekend brunch buffet. The experience blends relaxation with fine dining, offering a smorgasbord of delectable delights including sushi, chicken and waffles, prime rib, pizza, a dessert and pastry spread, as well as fresh seafood on ice with views of Biscayne Bay and live music playing in the background. Did we mention there’s a gelato and cotton candy cart? A dream.

RosaNegra
This pandemic-era Tulum hotspot (IYKYK) has recently touched down in Miami, and it’s brought its vibrant energy along with it. The Mexican hospitality group’s first U.S. outpost, RosaNegra Miami, transports guests into an otherworldly immersive dining experience inclusive of live music, fire-show dancers, bottle service complete with sparklers, and literal flaming tomahawk steaks. And while it gives off a “clubstaurant”-esque vibe (standing on chairs included), the Latin American cuisine stays true to its cultural essence. Flavors and ingredients like aji amarillo, roasted jalapeño, chiltepin peppers, and habanero aioli are felt and tasted throughout the menu.
Our picks for dishes: Start your experience with the burrata and mole, a fusion of Italian and Mexican staples blended for the ultimate flavor combo. The chips and guac topped with grilled panela cheese are another flavorful option for your tastebuds. For the main course, the branzino is a must. It is already de-boned, allowing you to dive straight into the citrus flavors of the dish. If you are a spice lover, pair it with the jalapeño mashed potatoes. For something a little more filling, the orzo pasta and short rib is a hit. Satisfy your sweet tooth at the end of dinner with the Magma Cake, a delicious combination of chocolate brownie, a chocolate chip cookie, and ice cream.
