Today’s New Music Friday is packed with releases from many of our favs across multiple genres, including a newcomer who has been quietly bubbling in the Florida music scene.
Rick Ross has been revamping his Maybach Music Group in recent years, and the rapper being touted as the new face of MMG is Nino Breeze. On Thursday, Nino introduced his long-awaited official release with the label “Type a N***a” remix featuring none other than Rozay and Moneybagg Yo. The single has been making waves across South Florida radio in the weeks leading up to its streaming debut. Additionally, the Nino-only version has become a popular soundbite on social media. This has led to rumors that an open-verse challenge may be in the works, which will allow other artists to hop on the beat and further push the record. While that plan is still in the works, “Type a N***a” remix solidifies Ross’ impeccable ear for talent and Nino’s unique sound, a refreshing addition to the current hip-hop sound.
Rapper Big Sean is creeping toward his “Better Me Than You” album with the release of its latest single, “Together Forever.” The song gets assistance from The Alchemist and finds Sean delivering smooth bars over the steller production. While fans eagerly await his full-length body of work, this latest record is a welcome prelude, also introduced with a visual.
Outside of hip-hop, another highly anticipated release is Tinashe’s mixtape, “Quantum Baby.” The eight-track project includes her viral sensation “Nasty” as the outro. Though a short listen, this 22-minute mixtape is easily digestible as a fun pop soundtrack for the weekend outings.
New Music Friday has also ushered in new heat from Lil Yachty, CMG star Big Boogie, YG and even Gucci Mane with a new Gangsta Grillz mixtape. No matter your taste, there are plenty of releases to stock up your playlists.
