New Music Friday is shaping up to be one of the most exciting of the month, thanks in part to Rihanna.
The singer returned with a brand new single, though the Ri Navy shouldn’t get too happy. The record, “Friend Of Mine,” is from the forthcoming “Smurf Movie.” The beauty mogul, who is also voicing the role of Smurfette, has long teased new music following the release of her critically acclaimed album “Anti” in 2016. While “Friend Of Mine” might not be the party anthem supporters were seeking, it is always good to hear from the superstar.
Snoop Dogg returned with his brand new album, “Iz It a Crime.” The semi-surprise drop was announced earlier in the week with little promotion, aiming for a shock effect. However, Snoop packs a punch across 21 tracks, with the lead single “Me N My Og” bringing along Sexyy Red for a West Coast and Midwest mash-up.
Next up is Latto, who is back in the booth after an unofficial hiatus. Her newest single, “Somebody,” is a play on Aaliyah’s famous song, “Are You That Somebody.” Latto delivers a melodic flow in a fun track poised for a remix featuring Flo Milli. Whether or not fans can expect this remains to be seen. For now, this tune is a perfect gateway to summer.
Elsewhere in music, Tee Grizzley, Bossman Dlow, Rico Nasty, and more have delivered quality new sounds for all to enjoy as we conclude another week.
