New Music Friday has kicked off with a bang with new heat from many of our favs.
Following the first day of Spring, Doja Cat and Jack Harlow teamed up for the upbeat tune, “Just Us.” This is the latest in Harlow’s string of singles this year, fueling talks of an album coming soon. While some have criticized Harlow’s sound in recent months, “Just Us” proves that he’s still a lyrical party starter, something he and Doja have in common.
Lil Durk debuted “Can’t Hide It,” the first single from his forthcoming album, “Deep Thoughts.” The record brings along Jhene Aiko for a romantic vibe. Despite his incarceration and lingering legal woes, Durk is still delivering for his fans.
Elsewhere in R&B, Leon Thomas made his mark with a phenomenal remix of his hit, “Mutt,” featuring Chris Brown. The record stays true to its original sound with Brown offering a fresh verse to this already catchy banger.
Music icon Jon B. also returned with a brand new album, “Waiting On You.” The project includes features from Rick Ross and Tank across its 11 tracks. This serves as Jon B.’s first album since 2013’s “B-Sides,” and thankfully for his day one fans, this soulful singer stays true to his seductive flow with timeless vocals.
Today’s batch of music is not only refreshing but a welcome diversion from the dramatic political climate. Whether you’re a fan of smooth sounds or tunes that make you dance, there is enough for everyone to enjoy.
