Jameis Winston won’t be heading back to Florida State next season, his father said Wednesday, opting instead to enter the NFL draft.
Initially, Antonor Winston said his son planned to wait until after the College Football Playoff National Championship to announce a decision, but instead, Jameis came to a firm decision Tuesday night that he was ready to enter the NFL draft.
Jameis’ father said his son received a first-round grade from the NFL draft advisory committee.
I don’t think anyone doubts Jameis’ ability, he’s a phenomenal athlete who can throw from the pocket like few can, but his off the field antics are worrisome.
This kid needs a support system that can keep him out of trouble, especially with the NFL’s no nonsense polices and on top of that, the benefits and temptations that come with having millions of dollars in disposable income could prove to be a toxic cocktail for Winston.
Only time will tell, as legions of fans are rooting for him, but as of now he makes Johnny Manziel look like a choir boy.
