Ballerific Sports: NY Jets Pick Up “Will Run Routes 4 Food” Baller

A few months ago, Joe Anderson was standing outside of the Houston Texans’ facility every morning with a sign that read “Not homeless … but STARVING for success!!! Will Run Routes 4 Food.” Now the NFL hopeful has finally landed a spot on a professional team.

ESPN reports that the wide receiver has signed to the New York Jets practice squad roughly six weeks after Anderson posted a photo of himself outside of Houston’s practice facility.

This isn’t Anderson’s first go at the pro’s, however. In 2012 Anderson signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent and played 9 games, mostly on special teams. In 2013 he suffered an abdominal and groin injury that landed him on the IRL and later waived. Anderson found himself in Philadelphia in the 2014 offseason and also spent some time in the Canadian Football League.

Joe Anderson, a Texas native, has been trying to reenter the NFL for quite some time and has remained optimistic. He hinted at meeting with the Jets last week in an instagram post where he wrote, ” For God to show up like he has shown up I have to glorify him, no matter your odds your up against when you walk in obedience and truly trust God, God will bless you and open doors man don’t see opening for you it’s called Favor.”

Congrats to Joe Anderson. Let this be a testament to the power of never giving up hope.
