Some people consider it rude to discuss others’ finances. Welp, the NFL doesn’t feel that way. The 2015 off season has been extremely interesting. Players waited longer than virgins for marriage to ensure they were going to get a paid -fairly. Others just signed on the dotted line and some are even raking in the bucks from contracts that weren’t signed this year. Who received top coins in 2015?
20) It’s a tie between Mario Williams of the Bufflao Bills and Cincinnati Bengals QB, Andy Dalton. Both are scheduled to make $16,000,000 this season with their six-year, $96 M contracts, but Mario has the most in guarantees-$31.4 M to be exact. Andy has $17 M.
19) Calvin Johnson’s seven –year $113.45 M contract with $48.75M in guarantees has the Detroit Lions player smooth walking on $16, 201,143 this season.
18) Peyton’s little brother, Eli, is getting that check cut to the tune of $16.25 M. His six-year $97.5 M deal with $35 M guaranteed is a nice thank-you gift for those two rings the Giants earned with Eli.
17) Arizona Cardinals’ Carson Palmer tops Eli by a quarter mill this season. His $16.5 M salary this appears courtesy of his three-year, $49.5 M contract with $20.5 in guarantees.
16) He has 99 problems, but a check ain’t one. The Houston Texans’ savage, J.J. Watt signed a six-year, $100 M deal with almost $52M in guarantees last year earning the defensive player a cushy $16,667,71 this year.
15) Kansas City Chiefs’ Justin Houston took KC for a check, check, check, check, check…. this off season. Signing a six-year, $101 M dollar deal with $52.25M guaranteed, Houston is the second-highest paid defensive player. His salary this season is $16.8 M
14-13) Alex Smith and Peyton Manning are tied for the 13th spot. Both are set to make $17,000,000 this season. Manning has a two-year deal with the Broncos worth $34M. Smith is looking like a bag of money with his four-year $68M, $45M guaranteed contract.
12) Say “Hi” to Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions. The dude with the infectious smile, has a three-year $53 M contract with 83% ($41.5M) of his contract guaranteed. I’d be all smiles too if my salary was $17,666,667 this season.
11) Cowboys infamous QB, Tony Romo has those checks waiting for him at the bank’s door. Romo’s $18M salary this season is courtesy of his six-year $108M deal which includes $55M in guaranteed money.
10) The Chicago Bears signed Jay Cutler with a seven-year, $126.7 M deal, guaranteeing him $54 M. They will be cutting Cutler an $18.1 M dollar check over this season’s games.
9-8) Colin Kaepernick and the highest paid defensive player this year, Ndamukong Suh, have both of their organizations, the San Franciso 49ers and Miami Dolphins respectively, showing them the money. Both men will make $19 M for the season. Each signed six-year $114 M contracts. Kaepernick has $61M guaranteed opposed to Suh’s $59.955M
7) Drew Brees is yelling more than “Who Dat?”. The quarterback for the New Orleans Saints will cash checks worth $20 M this fall courtesy of that five-year, $100M contract with $40M guaranteed he signed.
6) Joey Flacco surprised us in the Super Bowl against the 49ers. That surprise was out shined when the Baltimore Ravens signed Flacco to a six-year, $120.6 M contract with $29 M guaranteed. Flacco’s salary this year? $20.1 M
5) Matt Ryan took the Atlanta Falcons for a check. Five years, $103.75 M with $42 in guarantees, Ryan is cooling with $20.75M for this year’s salary.
4) When Cam Newton inked that five-year, $103.8 M ($60M guaranteed) with the Carolina Panthers, he had us all looking at the flick of his wrist. this season comes with a $20.8 M salary.
3) Ben Roethlisberger has been a cold-blooded QB since his debut in 2005 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben, meet Ben (Franklin). His four-year, $87.4 M contract has $60.75 guaranteed. He will earn $21.85 this season. It’s all about the Benjamins, baby.
2) The ink hasn’t even dried on the contract yet and Russell Wilson ranks second with his four-year, $87.6 M ($60 M is guaranteed) deal. Judging by the deal, Ciara isn’t the only one that wants a FUTURE with Wislon. The Seattle Seahawks are scheduled to pay Russ $21.9 M for the privilege this season.
1) NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers rests comfortably in the number one spot. Five Years, $110 M with $54 guaranteed, Rodgers has $22,000,000 in reasons why the color he’ll be seeing for the next few years is green,
