Tony Romo has spent his career as a Dallas Cowboy after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2003. Â Now it has been announced that he’s retiring from the NFL to pursue a career in broadcasting.
The Cowboys were set to release Romo on Tuesday, however, the decision to leave has already been made. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport tells Good Morning Football , “Tony Romo made the decision after this comes out, after consulting with those close to him, after examining his body and looking at where he is in his career, he decided to step away from football and embrace one of the broadcasting opportunities that he’s had for some time.”
Reportedly, CBS, FOX and NBC have already shown interest in the veteran QB and a decision could be made as early as today.
Romo has not officially made the big announcement yet. Best of luck to Romo on his new path!
