Award-winning Book Publisher, Author, and Movie Producer, Tressa Smallwood, is making major moves in the entertainment and media industry. A native of North Carolina, Smallwood, a former public school teacher, decided to followed her passion and wrote her first novel, “A Life To Remember,” in 2003. After amassing over $40,000 in sales, she resigned as an educator and used her knowledge, skills, and ambition to launch what has become a multi-million dollar empire.
As the CEO of Life-Changing Books (LCB), Smallwood has expanded her talents and found equal success in the film industry. After launching MegaMind Media in 2013, Smallwood set her sights on making film adaptations of some of the works published under her (LCB) company. Smallwood’s 2016 debut film, “Secrets,” was a Featured Narrative Film at the American Black Film Festival. Since then, she’s produced several award-winning film and television series for major media networks including, Viacom/BET Networks and TV ONE. Most recently, she wrote and produced the upcoming film, “All In,” which features Rapper/Actress Lil Mama, Rob Riley, Elise Neal, Jim Jones, Lena Anthony, Lyric Hurd, and Traci Braxton.
As a highly sought after producer with a knack for success, Smallwood is growing MegaMind into one of the leading book-to-film production companies in America. With three scripted TV series in development, a partnership with BETHER, and founding her movie-making institute DMV Film Summit, Smallwood proves that the recipe to success includes a commitment to hard work. As if she didn’t have enough on her plate, Smallwood also prioritizes giving back by mentoring girls ages 10-17 through The Boss Entrepreneurial Program and seeks to inspire like-minded women through business and networking.
