Balmain shared a statement from the creative director Olivier Rousteing announcing the news of the new company and the meaning behind it.
“For over ten years, my Balmain team and I have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible in fashion. We’ve been determined to reflect the way that today’s diverse generation wishes to live and dress.”
“So, obviously, there was no way that we were going to expand into beauty without ensuring that we had found the partner who understood and shared our outlook,” Rousteing adds.
“From the very beginning, the team at @esteelaudercompanies made it very clear that they support Balmain distinctive vision, as well as our goal of disrupting the global luxury beauty paradigm. Knowing that — and knowing that Estée Lauder is the paragon of excellence — well, I can’t wait to start working with them.”
In an exclusive interview with WWD, Rousteing wants to bridge the gap between makeup and skin, saying he feels like everyone “wearing a lot of makeup, but I think it’s important to also take care of your skin.”
The collaboration has been years in the making. This isn’t the first time Rousteing has ventured into the makeup world. In 2017, he designed a line of L’Oreal lipsticks.
“I’m super proud to work with Estée Lauder because its products are of such high quality,” Rousteing said.
