Baltimore Police Officer Keona Holley died a week after being shot during an ambush in her patrol car.
According to the Baltimore Sun, the 39-year-old mother of four was shot while working an overtime shift in Curtis Bay. She was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was on life support for some time.
It was reported by the Baltimore Police Department Thursday evening that Holley’s family, following consultation with doctors, had made the “most difficult decision” to remove her from life support. She was pronounced dead shortly after.
“Baltimore will never forget Officer Holley’s sacrifice and commitment to making a difference in her beloved city,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said, according to the Sun. “I ask that everyone please keep Officer Holley’s family in your prayers as they endure the holiday season without their mother, daughter, sister and loyal friend.”
Two individuals have been charged in the shooting and the murder of Justin Johnson, 38, in Southwest Baltimore about 90 minutes later.
