Natalie Desselle-Reid, best known for her role in the 1997 film B*A*P*S, has passed away after a battle with cancer.
TMZ reports that according to a family member, the actress, 53, died of colon cancer. She was diagnosed earlier this year and kept her diagnosis private. She was in hospice care for her final days and surrounded by family when she passed.
“It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning. She was a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife,” an official statement on her passing reads.
Desselle-Reid leaves behind her husband, Leonard, and their three children.
Halle Berry tweeted that the actress’s passing has left her in “shock” and “completely heartbroken.”
Best known for playing Mickey opposite Berry in the film B*A*P*, she is additionally known for roles in the films How to Be a Player, Set It Off, and the made for television Cinderella, starring Brandy.
She also made notable appearances in the television shows Eve, For Your Love, and Built To Last.
