The deal includes giving the Obamas the opportunity to reach beyond their already faithful following, adding Netflix’s 118 million subscribers to their fan base. “Barack and Michelle Obama are among the world’s most respected and highly-recognized public figures and are uniquely positioned to discover and highlight stories of people who make a difference in their communities and strive to change the world for the better,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. “We are incredibly proud they have chosen to make Netflix the home for their formidable storytelling abilities.”

The report comes after the New York Times confirmed their first deal with the streaming service back in March. Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to the former president wrote, “President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire. Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better. As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”

While Barack is still working on his memoir, Michelle’s memoir, “Becoming” is said to be released later this fall. The two were reportedly paid a $60 million book deal.
