According to police, a Florida barbershop owner shot and injured a masked gunman who came into the shop, pointing his gun at several people inside. The perpetrator was reportedly upset over a haircut, police say.
Melbourne Police Lt. Ryan Schorer said that the shooting happened around 3:25 p.m. Saturday at New York Hair Barber Shop in Melbourn, FL.
Florida Today reported that police identified the masked gunman as Marlon Mascoe, 24.
According to reports, Mascoe was shot in the hip and was disarmed by patrons and shop employees. Schorer said that the gunman was being treated at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
“When I stood up, he pointed straight back at me as if he was going to shoot at me,” Reid, the shop owner told FOX 35 News. “And I went back down. Ane then when he pointed the gun again at the people over to the side, I said that was my moment to shoot – and I just fired.”
“The investigation revealed that it wasn’t related to a robbery. It was actually related to a prior haircut transaction he was unhappy with or interaction inside the business,” Schorer said.
Mascoe is being charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
