A Baton Rouge school employee at the center of a criminal investigation was found dead this week, according to police.
Authorities say Quinton Dixon, a counselor at Westdale Middle Magnet School, died Wednesday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed his body was discovered on the campus of the former Glen Oaks Middle School, which is no longer in operation.
The death came weeks after investigators accused Dixon of sending inappropriate messages to a minor. Court records show an arrest warrant was issued earlier this month, charging him with four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
According to the warrant, the alleged messages were sent through Instagram to a 14-year-old student between early November 2025 and early January. Investigators state Dixon continued communicating with the teen after confirming she was a high school student.
The warrant also details comments about the minor’s sexual orientation and includes a message in which Dixon allegedly told her she was “cutting up to be so pretty.” Police documents describe the message as flirty in nature.
Following the allegations, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System placed Dixon on leave. In a statement released before his death, a district representative said the decision was made due to the seriousness of the accusations. The district also extended condolences to the school community and said counseling and support services were being offered to students and staff affected by the situation.
Police have not announced any further action related to the case and said the investigation is considered closed due to Dixon’s death.
