Beam Me Up Scotty! William Shatner Is The Next Space Traveler For Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin

Williams Shatner is going to space with the help of Jeff BezosBlue Origin.

It looks like Captain Kirk is back in action. On Monday, the 90-year-old actor announced he’d be traveling to space on the next Blue Origin flight. “I’ve heard about space for a long time now,” Shatner said in a press release. “I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle.”

Shatner will be accompanied by Audrey Powers, Blue Origin’s vice president of mission and flight operations. Chris Boshuizen and Glen de Vries are also hopping on for the ride. The ride will take 11 minutes, and they are slated to fly past the Kármán Line, which is known as the boundary of space.

This news comes less than a week after current and former Blue Origin employees spoke out against what they called a toxic work environment at the company.

The group will be taking off on Oct. 12 in the New Shepard NS-18, CNN reports.
