Bed Bug Infestations Detected at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Palazzo and Other Las Vegas Strip Hotels

Seven Las Vegas Strip hotels have been infested with Bed Bugs within the last 18 months.

According to a Southern Nevada Health District complaint at Circus Circus, a guest reported bites in January 2022, leading to a room inspection that confirmed bed bugs.

Records show that the room and nearby ones were treated for two weeks.

Health officials got another bed bug complaint in June for a different Circus Circus room.

Additionally, health inspectors found bed bugs at six other Las Vegas Strip hotels in the past year and a half: Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Palazzo, Tropicana, MGM Grand, and Sahara.

MGM International Resorts stated, “We have comprehensive procedures to address and resolve any issue that may arise.”

In January 2022, bed bugs were discovered in a room at MGM Grand and subsequently treated.

Then in February, Tropicana Las Vegas encountered a bed bug issue.  In response, they told 8 News Now, “While highly unlikely, in the event of a complaint, we immediately isolate the affected room and its surrounding areas.”

Bed bugs were also identified at two properties under Caesars Entertainment.

According to a report from the SNHD, an individual experienced bites while staying at Caesars Palace in January.  The affected room underwent treatment.  Additionally, bed bugs were discovered at Planet Hollywood in June.

In January 2022, a visitor staying at the Palazzo reported being bitten to health authorities.

A complaint highlighted that a guest at the Sahara Hotel killed a bed bug in October of the same year.  Subsequent testing confirmed its presence, leading to cleaning measures.

“We got thousands of people coming into Vegas daily, so bed bugs catch a ride with somebody.  They jump off into a hotel,” said Bobby James of Top Line Pest Control.

James recommends that guests thoroughly examine their room upon arrival, with particular attention to the bed area.
He said, “Hotels don’t come with bed bugs in them.  People bring them, so when they put luggage on the bed, we don’t know where they came from.”

He notes that dark spots, feces, and dead bugs are signs of bed bugs.

The SNHD told 8 News Now that hotels will only be fined if they don’t promptly address the bed bug problems once detected.
