Jamaican ‘Belly’ Actor & Grammy Award-Winning Artist Louie Rankin Dies In Horrific Car Crash

Famed Jamaican ‘Belly’ Actor and Grammy Award Winning Artist Louie Rankin has died in a horrific car crash in Canada, according to reports. The beloved entertainer’s death came one day after he announced on Instagram that he was in Toronto, filming a “major movie.”

Ranken was part of an accident that involved a transport truck and another vehicle in Melancthon Township, about 70 miles west of Toronto, according to reports.

Rankin’s wife and mother of three of his seven children Jewelz Sykes, confirmed his death on Instagram with six images of Rankin, her and their kids captioned, “There are no words!!!,” she added, “Sleep with the angels my King!”

Supporters flooded her comments showing their support, “I can’t even believe this… Rest in Gods arms,”, one person wrote. The comment continued, “You were truly a man with a heart of gold and a blessing to people All over the world. Jewelzchotic so sorry for you, all of his family and children.”

DJ Khaled also took to Instagram Monday paying tribute to his friend of many years, “Bless up my brother @louie_Rankin,’ he added, “Friends 20 years friendship from shottas and forever! Love and prayers for your family.”

Rankin, 55, is widely known for playing a drug lord named ‘Ox’ in the movie ‘Belly,’ alongside Nas, Method Man and TLC’s ‘T-Boz’. He also appeared in the movie ‘Shottas’, as well a number of other films.

Further, the late entertainer was also a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist. He won a Grammy for his popular 1992 hit single “Typewriter.”

Rankin reportedly was born St. Thomas, Jamaica, and raised between Rockfort, Warika Hill and East Kingston and eventually took on a second home in Toronto.
