Atlanta’s own Belly Gang Kushington stopped by The Baller Alert Show to chop it up with Ferrari Simmons and BT, discussing his rise in the rap game, his viral moments, and his journey from hustling to making music full-time.
Kushington, whose buzz has been steadily growing, shared insight into his process, revealing that he sorts through hundreds of beats before selecting the right one. “I might scroll through 200 to 300 beats before I pick one,” he admitted, adding that he only gives a beat two seconds before deciding if it’s a fit.
From the Streets to the Studio
A product of Atlanta’s Westside, Kushinton has built his name independently, capturing the attention of major labels and A-list artists. He revealed that labels have been reaching out, with calls coming in nonstop about signing him. Even Rod Wave recently hit him up, calling his music fire—a huge co-sign for the rising rapper.
“When I meet genuine people in this industry, I ain’t even looking to get nothing out of it,” he said. “I’m changing my life, I’m just vibing.”
Kushington also opened up about his past, sharing that he’s been arrested 15 or 16 times on fraud and drug charges. However, since handling his last case, he’s fully dedicated to music. “I ain’t committed a crime since,” he said. “We full throttle with the music now.”
Viral Moments & Hustler Mentality
Aside from his music, Kushington has been making waves for his love of fresh kicks—specifically Air Force 1s. “I change my [shoes] two to three times a day,” he revealed, laughing about how the habit has gone viral online. He even gifted the Baller Alert hosts fresh pairs of icy whites during the show.
Kushinton credits his street smarts for his approach to the industry, emphasizing that he’s playing the long game. “I understand that the genuine is just as important as the CEO,” he said, acknowledging how artists can get exploited in the music business.
What’s Next?
When asked about his upcoming project, Kushinton confirmed that his first album is on the way—not a mixtape, but a full-fledged album. Though he remained tight-lipped on the title, he promised fans quality music and a strategic rollout.
While Kushinton remains independent for now, he hinted that a major label move could be coming soon. “It’s gonna be a bidding war,” he predicted. “But I ain’t worried about the money—I’m worried about the situation and the team.”
