Civil Rights lawyer Ben Crump will now be representing former Saints player Glenn Foster Jr.’s family.
Glenn’s family is demanding answers for his untimely death and is asking for Attorney Ben Crump’s help. In a statement, Crump says he will not let authorities use Foster’s physical appearance to justify his death.
“The fact is that he was subdued in handcuffs and posed no risk. There is no reason why he was alive in police custody and sixteen minutes later he was dead. We will not rest until we get answers and justice for Glenn Foster Jr. and his distraught family.”
Foster, who was suffered from bipolar disorder, led police on a high-speed chase in Reform, Alabama. Authorities spotted Glenn going 90mph in a 45 mph zone and chased him into a neighboring town. Officers then used spike strips to flatten Glenn’s tires however, this resulted in Glenn crashing. Foster was arrested and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office’s jail.
Once notified of his arrest, Glenn’s family told Reform Police Chief Richard Black about Foster’s mental disorder. Black tried to get Glenn released on bail and sent to a facility to be evaluated but unfortunately, he was already booked. Apparently, Glenn beat up another detainee & attempted to take his socks.
Glenn stayed in jail until Monday & his death came after deputies were transporting him to a Birmingham hospital. Upon arrival, Foster was pronounced dead. Authorities have yet to release a cause for Foster’s untimely death.
