Benzino Says He Wasn’t On His Way To Mother’s Funeral When He Got Shot

Earlier reports have been saying that Benzino was shot by his nephew Saturday on the way to his mother’s funeral, but according to the reality star, that’s not the case at all. He happened upon his mother’s funeral procession by accident. 

Benzino says that he planned on skipping the funeral to avoid an ongoing family feud having to do with finances and the care of his deceased mother. In a phone interview he says he was driving south on Route 3 to meet a friend in Plymouth when he happened upon his mother’s procession — that’s when the Bentley containing his nephew was spotted. He says, “I looked over, there was a car, and all I saw was a gun shooting at me.” It was then that the assailant, his nephew, fired seven or eight shots. 

“I was trying to duck and dodge, drive around it, maneuver the car… I was bleeding a lot. I was driving with my thumb in my shoulder to try to stop the bleeding.”

Benzino said that he mourned his mother earlier that day at the funeral home where the wake was being held.  “I didn’t want to be around them,” Benzino said. “I felt like, I didn’t want any problems. I can love my mother and there doesn’t have to be no problems with family.”

Benzino’s children, fiancé and aunts visited Benzino in the hospital before he was released. An arraignment is being held for his nephew today. 

Upon reading all of this, something in the milk isn’t clean. If you, as an IMMEDIATE family member, would skip your mother’s funeral that tells me there had to be a LOT of family members that weren’t rocking with you that day. Especially for one knuckle head to pull a gun. And for it to be over finances and health care expenses? hmmm… I’m sure more will come out pretty soon.
