BET Announces The Hip Hop Awards Nominees; Cardi B Leads With 10 Nominations

The 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards nominees have been announced, and Cardi B. leads the pack with a whopping 10 nominations, including “MVP of The Year,” “Hustler of The Year,” “Made You Look” and “Best Hip-Hop Video.”

Travis Scott, DJ Khaled, and J.Cole, who all had chart-topping success this year, follow close behind with an astonishing 8 nominations each.  Drake, who led the nominations last year, falls to third most-nominated this year with 7 nods, including “MVP of the Year,” “Single of the Year,” “Lyricist of the Year,” and two nods in the “Best Hip-Hop Video” category.

Other notable nominations include Nipsey Hussle, who posthumously received 5 nominations, along with new-comer Megan Thee Stallion.   While 21 Savage, DaBaby, Meek Mill & labelmate Rick Ross all received 4 nods each.

Megan is going up against fan favorites like The Carters, Drake and Cardi B in the “Hot Ticket Performer” category as well as battling for the “Best New Artist” Award against other noteworthy newbies such as Blueface, DaBaby, Lil Nas X, Roddy Ricch and YBN Cordae.

The BET “Hip Hop Awards” will return to the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, GA, on Saturday, October 5, 2019, and the broadcast premiere is Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 8:00PM ET/PT.
