We will no longer have to ask, “Whatever happened to” an artist because #BET Digital has created a new show that highlights artists who suddenly withdrew from the industry.
“Finding” is BET’s new original docu-series that, according to BET.com, is based on the long-lost talents of the ‘90s and early 2000s industry scene. Its first episode will focus on R&B singer #Nivea who came into the industry by storm.
The Georgia native discusses the beginning of her career, and the roller coaster ride she went on in her personal and professional life. She also explains how two of her relationships led to having children with #LilWayne and #TheDream. Nivea garnered a lot of attention after she appeared on #Mysitikal’s “Danger (Been So Long).” From there, she made a spot for herself in the R&B realm, being named the “Black Britney Spears” by then-overhead of Jive Records, Clive Calder. Fans also learn the story of how a “con-artist” manager was able to seal a million-dollar record deal for her when she was 18.
“It was a bit overwhelming, but I worked for the opportunity,” Nivea explained. “I sacrificed my childhood with a manager that didn’t even complete the 9th grade, that did a lot of negative things to me, but also changed my life at the same time.”
“Finding” premiered on Friday, September 21st.
