President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have officially welcomed their new cat into the White House.
Willow is a 2-year-old farm cat from Pennsylvania with green eyes and a gray and white coat.
The first lady’s spokesperson, Michael LaRosa, said, “Willow is settling into the White House with her favorite toys, treats, and plenty of room to smell and explore.”
Following the election of Joe Biden in November 2020, Jill Biden had said they would bring a cat into the White House, but her arrival was delayed.
Willow was named after Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, where the first lady grew up.
The green eye feline made a lasting impression on Jill Biden after leaping onto the stage and interrupting her speech at a 2020 campaign stop in Pennsylvania, LaRosa said.
“Seeing their immediate bond, the owner of the farm knew that Willow belonged with Dr. Biden,” he said.
There hasn’t been a cat in the White House since President George W. Bush’s cat, India.
