Big Daddy Kane Apologizes After Viral Video Shows Him Trying To Remove Sign Language Interpreter Off Stage

Big Daddy Kane had an eventful show after mistaking a sign language interpreter for a disruptive concertgoer.

During his Friday night show, Big Daddy Kane was performing before a large crowd when he noticed a male on stage with him. While he didn’t stop the performance, the legendary rapper approached the man, identified as Billy Sanders, and attempted to get him to leave by nudging him twice. Footage from the concert shows the man interpreting the song, though Kane doesn’t seem to realize that the man was only there to assist the deaf attendees. The clip went viral in true social media fashion, with many people dragging the “I Get The Job Done” MC.

The backlash caused Kane to address the situation in a video. He offers another view from the concert, where he is seen apologizing to Billy and admitting that he was unaware that an interpreter was going to be on stage with him. In his explanation address for his IG followers, Kane says that the venue did not inform him or his manager about the interpreter.

“We were clueless, so when I came on stage and saw someone just mouthing the lyrics, I was trying to get them off the stage, but no one showed the clip of me apologizing to the brother and allowing him to stay on stage and finish the show. No one showed the clip of me apologizing to the crowd. Because as I said in the clip, I want everyone to enjoy the show, and that means even those who can’t hear it,” he stated.

Despite his explanation, people still voiced their disdain for the rapper and his actions Friday night.

“Anyone can film a section of a narrative for their personal gain. I’m giving you the facts, though,” he replied to one comment criticizing his actions.

Thankfully, the ordeal has been sorted out.
