Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, a co-founder of B.M.F., received some good news yesterday — his prison sentence has officially been shortened.
Big Meech’s prison sentence was reduced from 360 to 324 months, which is equivalent to a three-year reduction, by US District Judge David M. Lawson.
In September of 2008, Big Meech was sentenced to a lengthy prison sentence.
From the late 1990s until the Feds took down B.M.F. in 2007, Meech was convicted of running a countrywide Continual Criminal Enterprise and Conspiracy To Launder Money Instruments that raked in over $270 million in narcotics revenues.
Big Meech, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison, and his brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who was sentenced to 25 years, applied for compassionate release in April 2020, claiming the risk of the coronavirus to their health while incarcerated.
Southwest T’s 25-year prison term was modified to home confinement due to his increased risk of contracting the coronavirus. Big Meech tried four times to use the same argument, but each time a judge and an appeals court refused him.
Big Meech’s request for compassionate release had nothing to do with the sentence reduction he received today.
USSG amendments 782 and 788, which amended the drug quantity and chemical amount tables for all drug offenses, met the criteria for a sentence reduction for Big Meech.
Meech is eligible because the new sentencing standards can be used to drug cases that occurred before November 1, 2014.
Furthermore, Big Meech served nearly 16 years in prison with little trouble and has made some great improvements during that period.
He has completed his GED and a 24-month special management program, as well as health awareness, money management, and parenting programs.
To rebrand B.M.F., he also stated that he wants to launch a new initiative called “Build More Families,” and Meech has volunteered for community activities, back-to-school drives, and basketball tournaments from behind the scenes.
Big Meech, who was supposed to be released from Oregon’s Sheridan FCI on November 25, 2031, will now be released in 2028.
Big Meech’s life story is coming to Starz courtesy to 50 Cent, who is producing a drama about the Black Mafia Family starring Big Meech’s son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory.
