Bill Cosby is making the most of his time in prison by giving lectures to his fellow prison inmates and seemingly still trying to uphold his “America’s Dad” role, even behind bars.
According to Bill’s rep Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s pitch is that the inmate’s need to lead by example for their kids and stay out of the prison system in the future. Wyatt told TMZ, Cosby works mostly with a group called “Man Up,” comprised of inmates who are set for parole, where he discusses life lessons, staying out of trouble and not getting locked up again through proper rehabilitation.
Cosby urges inmates to re-bond with their kids immediately following release and lectures on substance abuse with tips on how to stay clean. He also lectures on finding work post-prison, providing inmates interviewing techniques they need to succeed.
The connection Cosby is having with his inmates may be the reason behind the awkwardly-delivered Fathers Day tweet the comedian posted over the weekend.
“Hey, Hey, Hey…It’s America’s Dad…I know it’s late, but to all of the Dads… It’s an honor to be called a Father, so let’s make today a renewed oath to fulfilling our purpose —strengthening our families and communities,” Cosby tweeted with the hashtags #HappyFathersDay and #RenewedOathToOurFamily.
The tweet received mixed reviews online, with many believing Cosby’s “America’s Dad” title expired the day he was convicted of drugging Andrea Constand. However, others believe his wisdom and knowledge still make him a great man, despite his mistakes.
How do you feel about the tweet and Bill Cosby giving life advice in prison?
