Bill Cosby is being sued by yet another woman who claims the actor drugged and raped her in the 1970s.
This week, comedy writer and actress Joan Tarshis filed a lawsuit against the disgraced “Cosby Show” star. Tarshis claims that she first met Cosby when she was just 19. He invited her to the set of his hit sitcom for a writing session, but once she got there, they went to a private area, where Cosby provided her with a drink. Afterward, Tarshis felt lightheaded and soon fainted. When the woman awoke, she said Cosy was taking off her clothes. She tried to fight him, but he forced himself onto her, making Tarshis perform oral sex on him. The performer says she met up with Cosby a year later to attend a fair with him. However, on the way there, she underwent an identical assault, having been drugged and raped while unconscious.
In her lawsuit, Tarshis is accusing the comedian of everything from assault to false imprisonment. She also claims she has endured severe emotional distress. While her name may be new to some, Tarshis previously accused Cosby of assault back in 2014 during an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon. In that discussion, Lemon shockingly suggested that Tarshis could have prevented the rape.
Tarshis is suing for an unspecified amount. Bill Cosby has not responded to this suit but has maintained his innocence in similar cases.
