The actress who invested $2,000 in a billboard to pitch herself to filmmaker Tyler Perry is reaping the benefits, as she’s reportedly been cast in a recurring role in his new drama “Sistas.”
This past May, 32-year-old actress Racquel Bailey spent $2,000 on a billboard that read: “Attention Mr. Perry. Racquel Bailey is your next leading lady.” The advertisement included her social media handle and website. In response, Perry insisted that other actors avoid using this tactic, but praised Bailey on her previous roles.
TMZ broke the story and confirmed the news with Bailey via text. She wrote, “I have been dreaming of this since I was a little girl,” she texted me today. “I feel like my dreams are coming true. And it’s because I believed.”
Bailey is a stay-at-home mother of three who spent the last few years taking acting classes, doing stage work until an acting opportunity came. Not only did she bag a role with Perry, but TMZ also reports the actress has had several auditions because of the billboard move. “I feel blessed,” she wrote.
