Birthday Ballers: 7 Killa Moments In Rap History From Cam’Ron

On this day we’d like to wish Harlem’s own Cam’Ron a very happy 40th birthday. To celebrate, I’ve decided to compile a mini list of some of my favorite Cam’Ron moments.

1. “You Maaaaaaad!”

Who knew that Cam’ron would coin the saying that would live on for decades? In 2003, Damon Dash and Cam’Ron appeared on an episode of Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor to discuss how gangster rap is harmful to inner city youth. The duo managed to get under Bill O’Reilly’s skin in the most satisfying way. Throughout the entire interview they used wit and quips to shut down the Fox News host, even highlighting that the kids who are mass shooting schools aren’t listening to rap music. They also noted that if kids imitated them, they’d be CEO’s, entrepreneurs, owners of their own labels, clothing lines and cologne brands. Needless to say, O’Reilly was sick of their sh*t. When both sides began to cross talk Cam asked the host,  “Why don’t you want to let him talk?” and that’s when he hit O’Reilly with the infamous, “You mad. You mad!” and went down in Black History. 2. Cam’ron Listing His Pink Range Rover On eBay

Killa Cam made it cool for men to wear entire pink outfits and to this day I’m still pissed off that I couldn’t get some of my favorite sneakers at Lady Footlocker because the men bought them all. One of the craziest moments in Pepto Pink history was when Cam’Ron listed his tricked-out, custom 2004 Range Rover on eBay for $180,000. Word is the Range didn’t sell on eBay and he actually ended up selling the whip to a car detailing shop, Auto Designs in downtown Manhattan for $50K.

3. Horse & Carriage

This is probably the first time I’ve ever heard of Cameron Giles, and likely the first time he’s ever been on BET. The 1998 track featured Mase and appeared on his album Confessions of Fire, which also included “3-5-7” off the “Woo” soundtrack.

4. Jay-Z Beef

No one can forget the infamous beef between Cam’ron and Jay Z in 2006. Cam wasn’t appreciative of his album being held up, so he dropped “You Gotta Love It” off the Killa Season album dissing Jigga’s age and saying Jay was stealing B.I.G’s lyrics. He also dissed him again in  “Swagger Jacker (Biter Not a Writer).” By 2010 Cam did an interview saying that they were no longer beefing.

5. “My f*ckin floor is dancin’!”

In 2010 Cam’Ron posted a video showing off his crib. May have been a Ustream, I forget. What I do remember is the “Diplomats Red Room” which included red Diplomat curtains, sparkling floors and seventeen, YES SEVENTEEN, stripper poles in his in-home strip club. To say I envy his home is an understatement. You can watch the video of Cam’s impromptu “Cribs” tour HERE

6. Cam’ron Calls Out Chris Bosh’s Wife

I’ll just leave these here.

7. Cam’Ron Admits To Buying His GED

Everyone measures success differently. For Cam’ron, graduating isn’t making it out of school, it’s making it out of the hood. In 2010, Cam admitted to fans that at the age of 17 he bought his GED for $600 — all to make his mom happy.  It’s the thought that counts, right?
