Over 60,000 people showed up for Donald Trump at the Boca Raton, FL rally Sunday evening, both in protest and in support for the presidential hopeful.
Unfortunately, not everyone was allowed in the rally, namely black protesters. A video was posted to Twitter by Shaun King showing security denying a black woman entry, despite her having a ticket to the rally, and not confirming or denying whether she was a protester.
In the video the officer can be heard presumptuously telling the woman “…if you’re here to protest or voice your opinion, or any of that, there is an area on the other side of the street for that,” emphasizing to the woman that the event would tolerate absolutely no protesting.
Although the woman was there to legally exercise her right to voice her opinion via protest, she was denied before openly disclosing to the officer that protesting was her intent. Prior to that, he assumes by simply looking at her, that she is there to protest and disregards all-together that she has tickets.
But the real slap in the face happens when the guy recording, a white male, tells the officer he too is there to protest, before freely waltzing past officers into the rally.
“So she’s black and she’s wearing something on her head, but she has tickets, so you’re not letting her in?” confirmed the white protester who was recording. The officer seemed to have taken offense at what the protester was implying but what happened next was further validation.
After admitting to the officer “I’m here to protest, and I have tickets,” the officer replies simply “okay” and the white male walks right past him, as he is somehow allowed to enter. He wasn’t directed to the “other side of the street”, stopped, or questioned.
This type of discrimination comes as no surprise after a black man was assaulted at a Trump rally, and what Sarah Palin calls “petty a** thugs” shut down the rally in Chicago just days before.
