Black TikToker Raises Over $280,000 For Homeless Man Battling Prostate Cancer

A Black TikToker has used her platform to help raise over $280,000 for a homeless man battling prostate cancer.

In the video, which has now gone viral, TikToker @hustlanani, a college student named Sanai, was vlogging her trip to the grocery store when a homeless man asked if she could purchase him some tea. Sanai went a step further and asked the man, identified as Alonzo, to join her in the grocery store. During this impromptu shopping trip, he revealed that not only was he living at a church but shared that he was living with cancer and had no family. In their chat, he also mentioned his pain medication, which Sanai made sure he had by taking him to several pharmacies to get it before taking him to Starbucks to get the tea. Sanai then called him a hotel room for the night and some extra cash to eat with. Before parting ways, Alonzo and Sanai swapped contact information.

The video garnered millions of views, which led Sanai to start a GoFundMe to help Alonzo. On the page, Sanai wrote: “I’m planning to use the funds to make sure he has a place to live, new clothes, shoes, a bank account, doctor’s appointments, a phone, etc.” As of Friday afternoon, the campaign raised $287,738, and she has since gotten him a cell phone.

Sanai has shared several TikToks of her journey with Alonzo and said on GoFundMe that she will continue documenting their encounters.
