America continues to divide at the hands and words of Donald Trump. BLM New York Chapter Co-founder Hawk Newsome was arrested along with 10 others. On Sunday Black Lives Matter held a protest at Madison Square Park in Manhattan.
With Assistance from the NYPD, the peaceful protest was disrupted by Trump’s instigating ” Make America Great Again” supporters. The NYPD Strategic Response Group unit, demanded the BLM protestors to disperse. They refused to stand down.
Newsome, who stood at the front line of the protest was abruptly approached by several police officers in riot gear. As he stood there with his hands up NYPD Officer surrounded him as they slammed him to the ground and cuffed him. He is now being charged with allegedly obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.
‘This Sunday around 8 pm at West 24th Street and 10th Avenue, We issued summonses to five protesters and released them. Four protesters were issued desk appearance tickets and released. Hawk Newsome was among those arrested. The protesters are being charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct, and a pedestrian on the roadway.” an NYPD spokesman said.
