Blog – It’s My Money & I’ll Spend It How I Please

This blog is dedicated to those who work extremely hard for their money and sometimes just want to treat themselves to something nice, but the minute they do they are chastised for making their purchase.

My view on the subject is pretty simple. As long as you are taking care of your responsibilities, I could care less what you are doing with your supplemental funds. Some people choose to save their money, some people choose to spend it because you can’t take it with you when you die. That is hardly my concern and it shouldn’t be anyone else’s either.

This blog is not dedicated to those who spend tons of money on enjoying themselves but can’t keep the lights on in their studio apartment. I mean, unless you enjoy the low lit ambiance, then do you. This is not for those who don’t take care of their children but have three brand new cars in the driveway. This is certainly not for those who coon out and tear twenty dollar bills into pieces so they can flush it down the toilet, literally. It’s your money, but how is flushing currency down the toilet helping the economy?

I believe in the necessity of rewarding yourself every now and then. If you want to buy yourself expensive jewelry to celebrate a raise, go for it! Want to travel the world in 30 days, do it! Money can’t buy happiness but it can buy a lot of things that will make your stay on earth a little more comfortable and enjoyable. I happen to be quite the frugal person. I don’t spend a lot of money. I think it’s absolutely wrong to tell someone else what to do with THEIR money that I didn’t help them get, especially if it doesn’t take away from me. If a rapper wants to spend all of his show money on some big gaudy necklace, it’s fine by me. Just don’t live on my tax dollars 5 years from now because you refuse to pawn that necklace to buy groceries.

Money makes the world go round and spending it is good for the economy. Folks buying extravagant things keep other folks employed. Who am I, or anyone else, to live in the pockets of someone who doesn’t have any effect on my life or well being. So cheers, spend your money how you see fit. I know I will!
