Smash or Pass? Blue Bell Introduces New Gooey Butter Cake Flavor Just In Time For Spring

Blue Bell is introducing a new flavor for anyone who’s a fan of butter cake.

On Monday, the creamery introduced its Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream, which sounds like a fan-favorite contender. The delicious treat combines cream cheese swirl and chunky batter pieces. The ice cream flavor is an ode to the cake made famous in St. Louis. The company hopes this new frozen treat will take the cake nationwide.

“Our new Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream is as delicious as the cake made famous in St. Louis. Our ice cream is a great introduction if you have not tasted a gooey butter cake,” said Carl Breed, vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Bell.

Jeni’s previously introduced its own Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream. Now, with Blue Bell entering the chat, it’s the battle of the brands, leaving customers to decide which one pulled off the dessert the best.

This is the second exciting Blue Bell flavor to hit grocery store shelves in recent months. In January, the company unveiled its Cinnamon Twist Ice Cream, which is packed with brown sugar and cinnamon intertwined with cinnamon bun dough pieces and cinnamon icing swirl. While these flavors are likely hot commodities going into, sadly, both are only temporary offerings. Blue Bell has stated that Cinnamon Twist and Gooey Butter Cake are only available for a limited time. While it’s unclear how long each will be in stores, anyone ready to try out these delicacies for their upcoming pool day should pick up a pint or gallon today.
